Key elements of successful training design
High-quality training isn't just content – it’s a combination of strategy, design, and delivery.
Southpac's L&D department brings the specific expertise needed for each stage of training development, helping you set clear expectations and achieve superior training outcomes. Here's how each role contributes to the learning design process and, ultimately, successful training outcomes.
Instructional Designer
The Instructional Designer is the strategist behind each learning experience.
They are responsible for establishing the learning strategy and overall structure of a program. Beginning with analysing the problem, they develop an understanding of the audience, and identify the performance gap.
From there, they design the learning approach – mapping the flow, activities and assessment logic to ensure the solution is both effective and aligned to organisational objectives.
Their focus is on developing learning that is practical, relevant and easy to apply, helping knowledge and skills transfer into workplace performance.
E-Learning Developer
The e-Learning Developer is responsible for bringing the learning design to life in a digital format. Using authoring tools, they transform conceptual designs into fully functional courses.
They manage technical requirements, including SCORM compliance, LMS compatibility, and accessibility standards, ensuring the product performs seamlessly across platforms.
As an L&D specialist, they apply current best practice, including bite-sized learning, learner-centred design and the thoughtful use of technology and AI to support scale, consistency and personalisation.
Videographer
Our in‑house Videographer brings high-quality visual storytelling directly into the process.
We can produce professional video content that aligns with learning objectives, marketing initiatives, or internal communications, ensuring consistency in brand and message.
Having this capability in-house provides speed, flexibility, and control – enabling Southpac to produce compelling content without relying on external suppliers.
Project Manager
The Project Manager works with the client to identify training needs, capability gaps and desired outcomes. They confirm the project scope, target audience and required deliverables, and keep the project on track. From there, the Project Manager assigns a Learning & Development Specialist to design and develop the tailored training solution.
Throughout the project, they provide regular check-ins, identify and manage risks early, and keep the team focused on delivering the right outcomes.
